For years I had wanted to get this armoire, but I did not have a space for it. Now, I do. I spent some time rereading the reviews and the details to familiarize myself with what concerns others have had and decided to take the risk in ordering it--for that is what this is: a giant risk.It arrived in two days, which was great because I only had to spend two days in agony worrying about whether it would arrive shattered or otherwise damaged and end up a total disaster. In my haste to make sure it was okay, I did not get any pictures of how it was packaged, but as another reviewer showed it comes in a large cardboard box and absolutely surrounded by piles and piles of styrofoam and other padding and even a wooden brace at the bottom, all of which took a long time to carefully navigate. To my utter and profound relief, it was perfect. Nothing broken at all! PHEW. Nothing broke while moved it around, assembled it, or replaced the original knobs. I am not sure I breathed fully until I had completely assembled it and did not have to move it around anymore! I am 100% so happy with this purchase and so thankful that everything turned out fine! It is just beautiful, has plenty of space, and now I can finally put all of my jewelry into one area to more easily see what I have, and get rid of the four other organizers and random drawers I was using. I also put things like spare glasses, costume bits for things like the Renaissance, and other miscellaneous items in it.After reading other reviews, here are other main details I think people will want to know and also a few notes from my own learnings:- IMO it is a two-person job to bring the box inside (it weighed 75 lbs)- One person could unpack it (especially if you GENTLY lay it on its side like we did)- Once it's unpacked, one person can carry/maneuver it pretty easily, especially (and I would strongly recommend this) if you make sure the side doors are latched closed and you take out all the drawers to reduce the weight, the likelihood something will fall out, and the general awkwardness- No missing pieces--the lid was in the main packaging and the feet and screws were stored in the bottom drawer (along with the surprise of a handy little screwdriver)- Nothing was left unassembled, except the expected feet and lid- All the holes for the feet and the lid aligned just fine so I was able to attach everything- None of the hangers inside the doors were loose or fell off, and the doors latch closed and open up just fine- There are some warning stickers and safety stickers placed directly on some of the mirrored areas which had to be removed and then residue cleaned up- One reviewer mentioned to never apply cleaning fluid directly to the mirrored areas, as this can mar or even damage them (she suggested just plain soap and water instead), so I took that to heart to clean off all the fingerprints by just using a soft cloth for now (I still need to work on the residue bits though)- As many people do, I got some crystal knobs to replace the metal ones and it really does elevate the look entirely, so I highly recommend doing that, as they are fairly inexpensive for how much they add to the piece and it's an easy fix- I did not realize until I went to put on the crystal knobs that they do require a bit of DIY work, in that I had to cut the velvet around the original screws inside the drawers to remove them and put in the screws that go with the crystal knobs (the screws it came with were not long enough to use to attach the kind of crystal knobs I got)- Craftsmanship is overall very good, particularly when you consider that this costs much less than other items of this type, and the only flaw I have seen so far is some loose velvet lining in the drawers that is easily fixed with some glue (if I care to do so when on one will ever see it)- Instructions were picture-based and easy to follow, one person can do it alone, and it was pretty intuitive overall what to do- When assembling the feet, do as the instructions suggest and remove all of the drawers, again, to reduce weight and the likelihood something will fall or break- For some reason the instructions show it upside down to attach the feet which seemed inadvisable to me so instead I carefully laid it on its back, after removing all of the drawers, and that worked well.- You do have to open the doors in order to attach the feet, so just be careful when doing so that you aren't against a wall or something that the doors can whack against or let them fall unhindered onto a hard floor- Note that the feet do have a "backside" that is plain with no mirrors, so don't be like me and attach the feet only to realize you need to take them off to turn them around so the right (mirrored) sides face out- Be careful righting it after you attach the feet, as you do not want to put undue pressure on any foot/feet and it/have them crack or break off- Do the lid after the feet--this was the hardest part for me as the screws were pretty difficult to get in and it took me a long time and a lot of sweating and worrying that they would go in crooked or too far and splinter the wood, but I just worked slowly and evenly tightening them each a little bit across the line then going back and tightening them more- The last thing I did was replace all of the drawer knobs while they were still all outside of the armoire and then only added each drawer back in once its new knob was on, working from the bottom up to keep things stable- Never, ever over-tighten any of the screws for the knobs, feet, or lid--it is totally doable to get things tight enough to stay together and be stable without risking shattering anything by adding pressure from too-tight screws
